Aug 10, 2017 – A final planning meeting was held last Sunday, Aug 6. Some changes were made to the traditional fly-in activities. Here is an overview of the weekend.
Friday Sept 8 is arrival day. A cook-out will be held in the evening at the motor home campers site near the airport building. Rick Spurling is coordinating the camper parking and he and his esteemed crew will plan for, acquire and grill the food and serve refreshments. A reasonable fee will be charged to eat and to partake of beverages.
Wing camping is available, and the airport facility has restrooms with showers, and an air-conditioned pilots’ lounge. Rooms at the Lodge may be all sold, but it is best to call the Lodge to check.
Saturday Sept 9 is the main fly-in day. Raffle tickets will be available to purchase all day. This year, the featured Grand Prize is a David Clark Pro-X Headset, provided by Wicks Aircraft Supply. A local vendor will provide lunches from the grill. A poker run and spot landing contest will be held during the afternoon. The poker run game can be played by anyone, flying or not. That evening, dinner will be held in the lodge restaurant in a defined area, and each person can purchase from the menu or buffet. After dinner, there will not be an event with speaker in a banquet room – something different will be tried this year. A social get-together/awards presentation with door prizes will be held at one of the cottages across the road from the airport, and will hopefully be a relaxing and fun atmosphere. Refreshments will be available.
Sunday, Sept 10 is mostly a departure day, with most gone by early afternoon.
